Food and Thoughts

This is finals weeks at BYU. I took two test today and will be taking two more tomorrow. As soon as I finish these finals I will be allowed to work extra hours. This will probably come in handy seeing how my husband told me today he would like both a Roku and Ipod. I really don't understand this. We bought a Wii because he wanted one and we haven't used it since the first month we had it. We bought a new tv and use it perhaps on the weekends to watch a movie from Redbox. He wanted an X-Box so we bought it with the understanding that he won't open it until Christmas. He hasn't even touched it! So even though he has been good, I don't want to give it to him because we aren't using what we have now. I don't think I'm a tight wad but I do feel there are more important things to save money for before spending it. Please read this as: rent, food, gas, higher utility bills what with it being winter, paying off school debt, getting ahead on rent/money for a rainy day, etc. We made a budget for our last pay period and we have blown it already with four days left. Silly Christmas. I honestly do not see why we need all this stuff... but atleast next year we won't be buying a tree, wreath, ornaments, etc.
Having said all this, I have taken to baking pies and especially making pie crusts. I really want to make a pie but I don't really eat them. I make Steve eat them and I take them to work and share them as well. If we end up going to the Hamilton Christmas Party this week (I type it like that because apparently it is that big of a deal and obligation to my mom), we need to bring either butter or our favorite desert. I would make pies, a lot of pies, and bring them to share. And I would hope for much praise of how yummy they are and what a good cook I am. However, I'm not sure how many people I need to plan on serving so I may additionally make rice krispy treats as well, mainly for the younger kids... and me!
Gotta go cook my noodles for my pasta dish I'm going to have while watching CSI. Lots of love to whoever is reading this.
